Welland Bio Power

Welland Bio Power is a 9 MWe Waste Timber Gasification plant utilising the Nexterra technology. This site is fully developed by CoGen with CoGen also being a significant shareholder. With this project we partnered with Welland Waste Management Limited, an existing waste timber processor to co-locate the plant on their site.

The site, which is only eight miles from the M1 in Nottinghamshire will be supplied fuel from Welland Waste managements existing waste timber processing facility. This cuts down significantly on delivery miles of the waste timber thus ensuring the environmental impact of this project is kept to an absolute minimum with maximum benefit.

MWH Treatment Limited are doing a full EPC design and build contract on the project and will again operate and maintain the facility once completed. CoGen are again overseeing the construction and operation of the facility on behalf of the project company whilst operating the project company itself. Balfour Beatty Capital Investments were again our lead funding partner on this project and helped co-ordinate bringing the £51 Million pounds equity funding to the table.
